Finding My Place in the Local Community

Lately, I’ve been feeling a strong urge to get more involved in my local community and find meaningful ways to contribute. I’ve poured so much energy into cultivating this online space, and it truly brings me joy—whether I’m enjoying your posts about happy mail, sharing the latest WIPs on our Discord channel, or exchanging pattern ideas on Blue Sky. But let’s be honest, it’s all happening from the comfort of my couch, which perfectly suits my introverted nature.

Craving Connection

However, I’m craving a shift. I want to step out and forge in-person connections. I’ve started brainstorming ways to find that sense of connection in my surroundings. I discovered a craft meetup at our local Starbucks that gathers twice a month. The next meeting isn’t until March, but I’m excited to check it out.

Exploring Volunteer Opportunities

Another idea that crossed my mind is volunteering at the public library. I’ve always loved books, and promoting literacy feels like a worthwhile cause. I’m still figuring out the specifics, but I definitely want to explore this option as well. Meanwhile, while I contemplate these potential activities, I find myself sitting on the couch, knitting hats for donation from my yarn stash.

Your Turn!

What about you? What activities are you involved in that help you connect with your local community? (Just asking for a friend!)

xoxo Michelle
